Rich joined the Marines after graduation from San Luis Obispo High School, summer of 1985.
Following initial training, Rich became a Marine Reservist.
Rich attended and graduated Hancock Jr. College Police Academy.
Following academy graduation, Rich joined the Lompoc Police Department.
Rich participated in many projects, including the Serious Habitual Offender (SHO) officer, a Detective, starting and managing the PAL program, the DARE officer, an instructor at Lompoc High School, and an instructor at the Hancock Police Academy.
The Marines activated Rich during Operation Desert Storm.
Rich Changed Departments and became an officer at the East Palo Police Department.
Rich assisted in the East Palo Alto Police Explorer Post.
